The fence men cometh...

The fence men arrived bright and early this morning. I heard the familiar "beep-beep-beep" of the construction equipment. We have to install a fence surrounding the pool in order for the pool to pass inspection. We also need alarms on any doors from the house to the pool area, so if anyone opens a door to the pool area, we will be alerted. DH will be installing the alarms.
They did a good job on the fence. DH told them that he wanted it as level as possible, and there was only one place where it is noticably lower.
Here is where one of the gates will go...
I'm assuming they need to come back tomorrow (or a later date) because they left this "anchor" attached to this section of fence...
Neither of the gates were installed, which also led me to believe they were coming back again...
These boxes must contain the 2 gates...
Most of the leaves are off the trees and we have a better view of the river now...
The hunting blind is still down by the ponds. I don't think the hunter has been back since we first noticed the blind on Sunday, so they haven't found DH's note yet asking them to remove the blind.

How did you guys find your contractors? I am thinking of an addition to the house and have no idea where to start!

If I remember correctly, DH searched online for contractors who were local to our property, met with them, and saw some of their work. There were 3 who returned his calls quickly and we asked those 3 to give us a quote.

We then decided based on how quickly they gave us a quote (we figured that if they didn't get back to us in a reasonable amount of time with the quote, then they probably wouldn't finish our house in a reasonable amount of time either) and on price, which actually wasn't that easy as it was often comparing apples to oranges. All the contractors included different things in their allowances, so it was a bit tricky to sort through and see who really had the best price.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the advice! I was actually searching online for local contractors and came along these service referral sites 'renovationexperts.com' and 'constructiondeal.com'. Have you heard anything about them? I am considering using one of them since its free anyhow...
